The theatre commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru on Wednesday, October 11, said the army killed 15 Boko Haram terrorists in Gwoza on Tuesday, October 10.
NAIJ.com gathered that Attahiru made the revelation during a press briefing at the operation’s headquarters in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
He said the terrorists ambushed troops in Gwoza and the above number of insurgents fell to soldiers’ bullets during a gunfight.
"After defeating the terrorists, the army seized weapons and ammunitions left behind by the fleeing assailants", he said.
Giving report of the army’s efforts against the insurgents, Attahiru confirmed the death of two Boko Haram commanders at the hand of troops on Friday, September 1, 2017 in Bama.
He also said that in the past weeks, the army has killed 19 and arrested at least about 18 others.
