- A former interim chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande, says the party is more concerned about the services the government renders to the people rather than electoral matters
- Minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi, states that the 2019 governorship elections in Rivers state will be fair and free
The southwest chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said President Muhammadu Buhari was yet to inform the party of his intention to vie for re-election in 2019 election.
A former interim chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande, speaking on behalf of the chapter said every member of the party was eligible to be the party’s flag bearer for the presidential election since Buhari had not signified interest to contest.
Akande made the disclosure at the southwest APC meeting held in Ibadan, on Thursday, October 12, the Tribune reports.
He said at the moment, party was more concerned about the services the government renders to the people rather than electoral matters.
“This is a meeting of the party leadership, outside and inside the government, not the party in politics. We are concerned about the services of our government to the people rather than electoral matters,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers state now minister of transport, said the 2019 governorship elections in the state will be fair and free.
Amaechi said All Progressives Congress is not ready to rig elections in the state because President Muhammadu Buhari is a man of integrity that would never allow such.
Reports have it that the minister, however, accused Nyesom Wike, governor of the state, of masterminding election mal-practices under Goodluck Jonathan-led administration.
