President Buhari deserves a second term - Governor Yahaya Bello

- Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has backed President Muhammadu Buhari to run for a second term

- He states that the president remains the most respected and most popular candidate for the All Progressives Congress

- The governor says the interest of Nigeria is far more important than the interest of individuals

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has said President Muhammadu Buhari must be elected for a second term to continue his good works for the country.

Bello said people who love Nigeria will support Buhari to run for second term so that he can strengthen the nations institutions of governance and assure a greater nation, Vanguard reports.

Speaking in a statement through his director general, media and publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, the governor said Buhari remains the most respected and most popular candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said: “We are a Democratic Party who will do everything within the ambience of the rule of law. But we cannot forget that our party has the most respected, the most popular and the most incorrigible material in the person of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“All over the world, his name represents anti-corruption, transparency and good governance. We cannot jettison such a global brand.

“It is true that many people are concerned about his health. President Buhari is now fit to continue to unsettle the forces of corruption who think four years are enough for people to forget the pains their corruption brought on our people."

Governor Yahaya Bello said the interest of Nigeria was far more important than the interest of individuals and urged the APC party leaders to continue to work for the prosperity of Nigeria.

“Ambitions are normal in politics. But the Nigerian project is far more important than the interest of individuals. Our party leaders will continue to act in unison for the prosperity of Nigeria,” he said.

Legit.ng recently reported that Governor Yahaya Bello paid President Muhammadu Buhari a visit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The visit, according to the president’s media aide, Femi Adesina, took place on Monday, October 16.

The presidency however did not disclose the details of the meeting between the Buhari and the governor.
