A 31-year-old Nigerian man from Edo state, John Ogah, has received international recognition after a patriotic feat.
RomaToday reports that Ogah was given residence permit in Italy in appreciation for foiling a robbery attack in a supermarket.
NAIJ.com gathered that Ogah who arrived Italy about three years ago illegaly, intercepted a 37-year-old machete-wielding robber.
Presenting him with the permit, the commander of the Carabinieri of Rome, Antonio de Vita, said:
“we wanted to acknowledge the great civic sense that he has shown. He confronted a gunman with a knife, risking his life.”
In an interview with Romatoday, a few days after the heroic gesture, Ogah said :
“I don’t know what I was thinking, but I had to do it. I managed to stop him, and many have thanked me for this.”
