President Buhari needs a second term to consolidate on his achievements - Shu’aibu

- The political firmament in Nigeria is charged at the moment

- Political alignments and realignments is the order of the day

- President Muhammed Buhari has been dragged into the 2019 race by his supporters all over the nation barely two years before the presidential election

The national chairman of the state coordinators of the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO), Alhaji Umar Shu’aibu, has stated that President Buhari needs a second term to consolidate on his achievements.

Shu'aibu made the statement in an interview with Daily Trust published on Sunday, October 22.

According to him, Nigeria does not have anybody who is more tested and trusted than Buhari in politics.

“Today, he has tackled the issue of insurgency. The past government was not able to do so,” Shu'aibu argued.

Giving more reasons for Buhari to stay in office beyond 2019, Shu'aibu said: “We don’t have any leader in this country who offers selfless service than President Buhari. So his continuation will be very good for this country to consolidate the gains in his first term.”

Reacting to the comment of the minister of women affairs, Hajia Aisha Alhassan who she would rather support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 election even if Buhari contests, Shu'aibu said:

“My take on that is that everybody knows the constituency the minister comes from. She was not a supporter of President Buhari; she only jumped onto the train after the merger. She has never been a supporter of General Buhari.

“Publicly, she has said that she is with Atiku and that she would back Atiku and not the president if Atiku would contest. So, she doesn’t have any business in this government because there is no loyalty.

“If a minister’s loyalty is to somebody who is condemning the achievement of the government, which she is part of, it means she is also being condemned. She does not see that. She believes that the party is right, but there is no loyalty and commitment to this government.

“We suggest that she resigns and follows the person she is loyal to, whose principle she believes in.”

In a related development, the deputy director of media, Buhari Campaign Organisation, Mr Ayo Oyalowo, has stated that Nigerians are lucky to have President Buhari as their leader presently.

Oyalowo, who is also a member of the All Progressives Congress and a popular social media influencer, made the statement on a political programme aired on Channels Television recently.

“I think he (Buhari) is a good person, I think he’s honest, I think Nigeria is blessed and lucky to have him as president.

“From 2011 I have been with the man, I supported him in 2011. I’m very happy that he finally got it in 2015 and if God wills and he wants to do it again, I will gladly support him,” Oyalowo said.
