- The minister made his comments in Delta state, at a reconciliation meeting for various interest groups within the party
Ibe Kachikwu, the minister of state for petroleum, has disclosed that in order to move all Nigerians from poverty to wealth, the All Progressives Congress (APC), will concentrate on grassroot empowerment, Vanguard reports.
The minister made his comments during a reconciliation meeting of various interest groups within the party, in Evwerni, Ughelli North local government area, Delta state.
He stated: “Every time we gather, we talk about the State House. The State House is not the issue; but empowering our people from poverty to wealth creation.
“If we cannot empower our people we may have nothing to sell as a party. It is the process of that movement that will make us to get to the State House which is the concept of unity.”
Two Delta state APC leaders, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor and Chief Hyacinth Enuha, also spoke at the events.
They stated that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was an enemy of the ruling party, and that they would not rest until the PDP was uprooted from the state.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Conscience of the Niger (TCN) revealed that Kachikwu, was not interested in contesting for the 2019 governorship election in Delta state.
TCN said claims that Kachikwu was interested in becoming a governor in the next election, were being championed by mischievous people to embarrass the minister.
According to the group, Kachikwu had severally denied any such ambition.
