The Tribune reports that the 36 chief judges of state judiciaries and the chief judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), submitted the list to the CJN in compliance with the directive he gave during his 2017 new legal year speech in September.

A top judiciary source told the Tribune that the list reportedly contained the names of those on trial, the trial judges and the status of the cases.

The source said names of those who dominated the list included former governors, former ministers and former top military officials.

The list would be monitored by a newly-formed monitoring committee which Justice Ayo Salami (retd), initially was to head before he declined the nomination about two weeks after his name was announced alongside 15 other members.

But plans are reportedly underway to replace him.

Meanwhile, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has said the massive looting of the nation’s resources by the immediate past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan is responsible for the economic crunch the country is experiencing under the present administration.

Osinbajo said before the 2015 elections, the government of Goodluck Jonathan, ostensibly doled out N100billion and $295million in cash within two weeks.

He said this while speaking on Friday, October 27, in Lagos at a ‘Greater Nigeria Pastors Conference’ organised by Rev. Yomi Kasali’s-led Berean Ministers Group.

Osinbajo also said the Nigerian system was deeply infested with corruption that should be fouht at all levels.
