20 marriages, 72 births among 2016 NYSC members in Oyo state

- According to the administration of the NYSC in Oyo state, there was a large number of marriages in 2016 among members

- Corps members belonging to 2016 Batch B Stream 1 gave birth to about 72 children in all

- They also recorded only three deaths out of the total of 3,406 corps members who passed out on Thursday

It was surely a year of starting families for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Oyo state. It is said the 2016/17 Batch B (Stream 1) corps members who deployed to the state gave birth to no fewer than 72 children.

Ifeoma Anidobi, the Oyo state NYSC coordinator, made this known in an interview with NAN. She noted that the state also recorded 20 marriages by the corps members and three deaths out of the total of 3,406 corps members who passed out in the state on Thursday, November 2.

The 3,406 corpers consist of 1,504 males and 1,902 females, out of which three members received state’s awards, while one received the chairman’s award. Again, 38 received commendation letters, while 28 had disciplinary cases.

"Those with disciplinary cases are to undergo extension of service, ranging from two weeks to four months," she said.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com earlier reported that Nwankpa Blessing, a member of the NYSC that was kidnapped has been rescued.

The beautiful corps member who had a rough time met with Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazuare, the Director General (DG) of the scheme, after she was rescued.

The DG expressed his profound joy at the safe return of the corps member while dishing out words to encourage and strengthen her.

On this note, he directed the NYSC state coordinator in Nasarawa to give her all she needs in order to make the remaining period of her service year enjoyable.
