Just in: Police officer shot by Kidnappers dies

A fatally wounded police officer who was part of the crack team that went after kidnappers of some British citizens in Delta state recently has been confirmed dead.

The officer was shot after the kidnappers killed one of the victims and released three others.

Abba Kyari, disclosed the news on his Facebook page on Friday, November 10.

He wrote: "Sgt. Sanusi Lanre of the IRT, One of the best tracking officers who was shot by a kidnapper in Delta state on 8/11/17 during gun battle with kidnappers of 4 British citizens in Delta state died 12noon today, after surgery was conducted early yesterday to remove the bullet in his stomach and rectify the damages caused by the kidnapper’s bullet.

"We thank God that the kidnapper that shot him also met his water-loo, while two others were arrested earlier.

"We pray that our gallant officer who died in the line of duty will rest In peace. May Almighty God give his family the fortitude to bear the loss, Amen."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the identity of a British citizen killed while being held by his captors in the Niger Delta region was revealed as Ian Squire.

Ian, was an optician who was providing free medical aid to people in the Niger Delta region before he was kidnapped.

A Nigerian Facebook user by the name Chris Kehinde Nwadu has berated the kidnappers for killing the British national who came to render free medical care to people in Nigeria.
