Zimbabweans to hold rally on Saturday to push out Mugabe

- A mass rally is scheduled to take place in Harare, Zimbabwe on Saturday, November 18, calling for the resignation of the country's embattled president, Robert Mugabe

- The rally is being organized by some powerful organizations representing veterans of Zimbabwe’s liberation wars

- One of the organizers, Chris Mutsvangwa, called on his countrymen to participate and stressed that Zimbabweans were warning Mugabe and his associates that the game was up

Powerful associations representing veterans of Zimbabwe’s liberation wars are organizing a rally to call for the resignation of President Robert Mugabe.

According to UK Guardian, the rally is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 18.

Legit.ng gathers that the participants will march through the streets of Harare, the Zimbabwean capital, calling on Mugabe to step aside.

A leader of the war veterans, Chris Mutsvangwa, made the development public during a press conference on Friday, November 17.

Mutsvangwa stressed that President Mugabe would not be allowed to remain in power.

He stated: “Between now and tomorrow we are giving a very stark warning to Mugabe, his wife and anyone who wants to be associated with him that the game is up - finished.”

He also urged his countrymen to come out and participate in the rally, stating: “We are appealing to all Zimbabweans to come tomorrow for the biggest, largest turnout by the Zimbabwean population so we finish the job the Army has started.”

Another war veteran and a former home affairs minister, Dumiso Dabengwa, also praised the Zimbabwean army for preventing the ascension of the president's wife, Grace Mugabe, by their intervention.

He stated: “Ninety-nine per cent of people want Mugabe to go. He is no longer in charge … Grace is in charge and Zimbabweans cannot fold their arms and let a character of that nature to lead. She had to be stopped.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Ian Khama of Botswana stated that embattled Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, should give up trying to remain in power.

Khama noted that Mugabe did not have any regional diplomatic support to remain in power.

He expressed optimism that the military intervention in Zimbabwe could put the country on the path to peace and prosperity, after 37 years of Mugabe’s rule.
