- Atiku Abubakar has spoken on his stands to remain a member of All Progressives Congress (APC)
- This is coming at a time when a group known as the southwest chapter of the Nigeria Youth Coalition admonished Abubakar to return to the PDP as soon as possible
- He maintained that people are free to express themselves as enshrined in the country’s constitution
Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, on Friday, November 17, declared that he is currently a member of the All Progressives Congress.
According to a report, Abubakar made this known through Paul Ibe, his median aide, when the Concerned Citizens For Atiku (CCA) paid him a visit.
The former president insisted that he belongs to the APC after a group called on him to return to the Peoples Democratic Party.
Ibe said people are free to express themselves as enshrined in the country’s constitution.
According to him, ''Well, groups are free, like individuals are free to express their positions, it’s a country of law and there is freedom of expression as enshrined in our constitution.
''Having said that, I probably would also remind that his excellency belongs to a political party as we speak.''
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that Hilliard Eta, the national vice chairman (South south) of the APC said Abubakar is no longer an option for the 2019 presidential race.
The APC chieftain maintained that he was one of those who canvassed votes for Atiku during the APC presidential primaries in 2015 but that their loyalty shifted to Muhammadu Buhari after he became the party’s presidential candidate.
