Ibukun Agbede, Gbenle Similoluwa, Sogbola Tomi, Amara Balogun, Kechimani Iheanacho, and Adefolaranmi Aliu have all emerged as winners in the 5-8, 9-12 and 13-15 year (male & female) categories of the first ever Lagos Kiddie Mini-Marathon.
The event, which is an initiative of the St. Saviour's School Endowment Fund, was conceived to inspire children between the ages of 5 – 15 years to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
The Mini-Marathon held in partnership with MTN was well attended with more than 1000 children representing over 22 schools in Lagos participating in 1.2km, 3km and 5km distance races respectively.
Speaking on the initiative, the Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Nigeria, Rahul De, stated that the Lagos Mini Marathon reinforced the brand's commitment towards positively affecting the lifestyles of its esteemed subscribers.
According to him, the Marathon not only provided a platform for the participating kids to engage in physical exercises, it also motivated them to begin to adopt healthy lifestyles from a very young age.
''We will not rest on our oars in the pursuit of improving and satisfying our customers at all levels. For this reason, the company has partnered with St. Saviour's School, Ikoyi to inspire our kids to take part in sporting activities that will not only make them physically active but also encourage them to live healthy,'' he said.
