- Some former councillors in Kastina state have defected to All Progressives Congress (APC) to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
- The councillors who defected to APC are over 300 in number
- The were said to have been convinced to defect to APC by a member of the House of Representatives, Danlami Kurfi
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday, November 18, suffered another setback after 330 former councillors in Kastina state decamped to the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
Confirming the defection, the chairman of state ex-councillor's forum, Yusuf Ibrahim told journalists that the councillor's 'dumped their party to join the APC.
Ibrahim said these 330 former councillors were convinced to join APC after a member of the House of Representatives, representing Dutsin-ma/ Kurfi, Alhaji Danlami Kurfi spoke to them.

He said: "We hold series of meetings with Honourable Danlami Kurfi, it was after these series of meetings that the lawmaker convinced us to join the APC. And he has been working day and night to make sure that dream was actualized. Here we are today announcing our position."
Ibrahim said the state's former councillors' forum has also held series of similarly meetings with the state governor, Aminu Masari through the efforts of Kurfi.
He said it was through that effort that the forum decided to withdraw from a suit they instituted against the APC led administration over their alleged illegal dissolution, which he said was what stopped the conduct of local government election in Kastina state.
Ibrahim also said the total number of councillor's were361, where he disclosed that 352 instituted the legal action while eight that have already joined the APC opted out of the suit.
He said the forum is determined to withdraw all its suit before the next adjourned date at the Court of Appeal.

Ibrahim also assured Governor Masari and Honourable Kurfi has promised that they would not be marginalized in the running the party affairs in the state and the national level.
Also speaking Kurfi who met with decamped councillors in Kurfi and Dutsin-ma.
He said a date would be announced soon for the formal decamping of the former councillors.
NAIJ.com earlier reported prominent PDP chieftain, Allen Nwachuku is set to decamp to APC.
It was gathered that Nwachukwu defection may not be unconnected to his sons move to APC.
A source said the chieftain was at the secretariat of the APC in Umuahia, Abia state.
