- They want him to replace Piero Ventura as Italy national team coach
- Ventura was sacked after failing to qualify Italy for the 2018 World Cup
President of the Italian Football Federation Carlo Tavecchio has confirmed that Chelsea coach Antonio Conte is a top candidate for the vacant national team job.
The Azurri are currently without a manager after Gian Piero Ventura was sacked following Italy's failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Italian FA are now looking for a good replacement for Ventura so as for them to get back on track ahead of the 2020 European championships.
Among st the names in the frame according to Tavecchio are Massimiliano Allegri, Roberto Mancini, Carlo Ancelotti and Claudio Ranieri.
"We’re looking for the best. They already have commitments until June from a contractual point of view.
"The ones are Ancelotti, Antonio Conte, Allegri, Ranieri and Mancini. This is the truth of those available." Tavecchio was quoted to have said by the UK Sun.
Meanwhile, it is not sure if Antonio Conte would want to leave his position at Chelsea, but NAIJ.com had earlier reported how Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly looking for a replacement for him.
