Babangida, Wike hold secret meeting in Niger

- Babangida met with Governor Wike in Niger state

- The former head of state hailed the Rivers state governor

- He also said he was not surprised by the result of the Anambra election

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has hailed Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers for promoting vibrant politics in Nigeria.

According to report, the former head of state spoke shortly after he received Wike at his hilltop residence in Minna, Niger state on Wednesday, November 22.

He applauded the governor for making the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains a strong political party.

He said: “I particularly appreciate the job the Rivers State Governor is doing to make sure that politics moves the way that politics is practiced in the civilised world”.

“This is because you need a very good political party in this country and he is working towards achieving that.

“He applies his courage, his knowledge, contacts to make sure that PDP remains very strong.”

The former head of state also applauded the Rivers state governor for his commitment to good governance and achievements in office.

He also said he was not surprised by the outcome of the Anambra election as adequate preparation was made.

He said: “It is an indication that Nigerians would be able to conduct themselves well in a very peaceful environment.”

Meanwhile, the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, said the federal government cannot stop people from selling their votes during election periods.

The minister made the statement when praising the successful conclusion of the Anambra state governorship election, Vanguard reports.

He said the outcome of the election showed that the Buhari administration had provided a level playing ground for all.
