2019: APC would surely win Abia state - Kalu

- Orji Uzor Kalu, ex-Governor of Abia state, has declared that the ruling APC party would surely win the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state

- Kalu stated that the ruling party had lost out in the recently conducted governorship election in Anambra state because of the superb performance of the incumbent governor

- The ex-governor also disclosed that if the current governor of Abia, Okezie Ikpeazu, defects to the APC, he would be given the party’s ticket to contest as its flag-bearer

The former governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kalu, has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would certainly win the 2019 governorship election in the state, New Telegraph reports.

Kalu stated that the ruling party would give an automatic ticket to the current governor of the state, Okezie Ikpeazu, if he chooses to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Legit.ng gathers that the former governor also highlighted the difference between the situation in Abia and Anambra state; pointing out what led to the recent victory of Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

He stated: "APC will win in Abia because the issues confronting Anambra and Abia are not the same. Obiano is paying complete salary; he is not owing anybody, including contractors.

“Roads are being built in Anambra; can we say the same thing about Abia state? We will work very hard in our state to ensure that APC wins, but who the candidate will be is what I don’t know.

“There is still an opportunity for the present governor to come over and take the APC ticket.

“If he (Ikpeazu) crosses over to APC, he is going to be the candidate of the party. The law of the party is very clear; if the governor crosses over today, he is going to have the ticket of the party.

“I don’t have an idea if he is making moves to cross over and I have not spoken with him for over two years since he has been governor.”
