President Buhari sets up burial committee for late Ekwueme

A burial committee for the late former vice president, Alex Ekwueme, has been constituted by President Muhammadu Buhari, Laolu Akande has revealed in Abuja.

The committee is headed by Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the overnment of the Federation (SGF).

Akande, who is the senior special assistant on media and publicity to the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, said this while speaking on the outcome of the meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting was presided by Osinbajo.

The report quoted Akande as saying that Mustapha revealed this information to the members at the NEC meeting.

He added that the committee is being chaired by Mr Mustapha while the Anambra state government and the Ekwueme family would be fully involved in the burial activities.

Osinbajo and all members of the NEC signed the condolence register for Ekwueme which was opened in the Presidential Villa.

According to Akande, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra lauded the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari for ensuring a free and fair gubernatorial election in the state on November 18.

Laolu said the governor gave the commendation under during the council.

NAIJ.com earlier reported how a former governor of Delta state, Chief James Ibori, tongue-lashed some Nigerians mourning the late Alex Ekwueme.

According to Ibori, the same nation that never allowed the late Ekwueme to rescue it from ‘political and economic morass’ is now mourning him in death.

The former governor said Nigerians were shedding crocodile tears over the death of Ekwueme.
