President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the payment of the university fees of 106 Chibok girls, Presidency revealed on Sunday, November 26.
Personal Assistant to the president on social media Lauretta Onochie confirmed the move in a tweet on Sunday.
The girls attend the American University of Nigeria in Yola, Adamawa state, founded by former vice president Atiku Abubakar.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com reported recently that Chibok schoolgirls' parents expressed sadness over President Buhari’s “silence” concerning the fate of their daughters still in Boko Haram captivity.
The parents, in a letter written to President Buhari, complained that about 20 among them have died while waiting for the return of their children.
The federal government had promised that more girls would regain freedom after the insurgents released 82 of the girls following a prisoner-swap deal.
Five months later, 21 girls were also freed.
