Breaking: President Buhari writes Senate, seeks confirmation of 10 members of Code of Conduct Bureau

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Wednesday, November 29, written the Senate to seek confirmation of 10 nominees as members of the Code of Conduct Bureau, with one of them as chairman.

The Nigerian Senate made this known on its Twitter handle.

The letter read: “In compliance with section 541 of the 1999 constitution as amended and in pursuant to sections 1(2) and 1(3) of the code of conduct bureau act LFN 2004, I write to request for the confirmation of the following nominees for appointment as chairman and members of the bureau.”

The appointees are:

Muhammed Isa - chairman Jigawa, northwest

Murtala Kankia - member, Katsina northwest

Emmanuel Attah - member, Cross River, southsouth

Danjuma Sado - member, Edo south

Obolo Opanachi - member, Kogi northcentral

Ken Madaki Alkali - member Nasarawa, northcentral

S.F. Ogundare - member, Oyo, southwest

Ganiyu Hamzat - member, Ogun southwest

Sahad Abubakar - member, Gombe northeast

Vincent Nwanne - member, Ebonyi southeast

Going further, the letter read: “The curriculum vitae of the nominees are attached herewith. It is my hope that this Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will in their usual expeditious manner consider and confirm the nominees. Please accept Mr. Senate President, my assurances of my highest consideration.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) witnessed a return of normalcy after confusion broke out among top directors of the bureau.

Legit.ng checks at the bureau's headquarters indicates that all is now well as staff members have returned to their normal duties and the acting secretary, Mrs. Folasade Kolawole has resumed work and fully in charge of the bureau.

A top director who allegedly masterminded the confusion is said to have been prevailed upon by top Presidency officials which ended the crisis.
