Nigerian Air Force releases video after bombarding Boko Haram base in Borno

- The Nigerian Air Force announces a successful bombardment of two Boko Haram bases in Borno state

- The NAF said its men had discovered the bases while they were on surveillance of the area

- The security agency said its Alpha Jet fighter aircraft attacked the target with bombs and neutralised many of the terrorists

Days after attacking a major base of the Boko Haram sect in Bogumeri area of Borno state, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has released footage of the successful operation.

A statement signed by Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanya, the director of the organisations public relation and information, said the success was in furtherance of Operation Lafiya Dole.

“The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), on 24 November 2017, successfully neutralized a large gathering of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) in Bogumeri, Borno state.

“A NAF platform, while on routine Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), had previously discovered the large gathering of the BHTs in the area, which was known to have significant BHT presence.

"Consequently, NAF fighter aircraft were detailed to carry out air interdiction on the target, in quick succession.

“The Alpha Jet fighter aircraft attacked the target with bombs, killing the insurgents and setting some structures ablaze,” the statement read.

The statement also confirmed another successful attack on another terrorists’ base in Gobara, 15km north-west of Gwoza on November 28.

“NAF ISR platform had previously discovered the armed BHTs, who were gathered by a building that was apparently being used as a hideout.

“The subsequent air strike resulted in the immediate destruction of the target building, killing all the BHTs inside it,” the statement said.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the Nigerian Air Force on Thursday, November 30, graduated 414 special forces of its personnel out which 396 were airmen, airwomen and 18 were officers.

The Chief of Air Staff Sadiq Abubakar made the disclosure during the combined graduation of basic regiment officers, airmen and Gunnery II course and special forces course 2017, at the military training centre NAF base in Kaduna.
