Breaking: Buhari in historic tour of Kano, visits prison to see condition of inmates

- President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived Kano state for a two-day official visit during which he is expected to commission some projects

- Buhari's advance team had arrived the state on Tuesday, December 5, where they went round the projects expected to be commissioned by the president

- Upon arrival, the president headed for the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi 11

President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived Kano state on a two day working visit, the presidency has confirmed.

The president left the Aso Rock Villa Abuja in a helicopter in the morning of Wednesday, December 6, accompanied by top officials of his government.

The presidency also confirmed that he arrived the state where he is expected to commission some projects built by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The president, upon arrival, immediately headed for the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi 11, where he paid homage.

He further visited the Kurmawa Prison located in the state. One of his spokespersons, Bashir Ahmad, said the visit is for the president to be able to ascertain its condition.

The Nigeria Police Force, Kano command, had in a statement to the people of the state, asked parents to warn their wards against unruly behaviour while the president remained in the state.

“It is unequivocal that the people of Kano state will turn out en-mass to showcase their affection for the Mr President. Thus there will be mammoth crowd to welcome and cheer our president.

“All critical stakeholders and parents are hereby enjoined to advise their wards to emulate the virtues of good behaviour with a view to according our President a rosy welcome to the state,” the statement personally signed by the commissioner of police, Rabiu Yusuf, and obtained by NAIJ.com said.

The statement said police officers and other security agencies would ensure adequate security arrangements in the state.

“Thus, the command will not hesitate to decisively deal with any unruly behaviour on the part of any body or group that may foment trouble before, during and after the state visit,” the statement said.

Very late on Tuesday, December, 5, Ganduje had taken the president's advance team to some of the completed projects marked for commissioning.

NAIJ.com recently reported how President Muhammadu Buhari visited Ebonyi where he commissioned the 700m length of the Dr Akanu Ibiam Twin Flyover Bridges over the African Trans-Sahara route running from Enugu to Cameroon.
