Lower courts in the US have condemned the policy, saying it violated the first amendment of the US constitution covering freedom of religion.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas had warned that President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital would jeopardize the White House's Mideast peace efforts.

He said: "Any American step related to the recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel, or moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, represents a threat to the future of the peace process and is unacceptable for the Palestinians, Arabs and internationally."

According to report, there seems to be global confusion and anxiety following a move by President Donald Trump of the United States to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

This move, which has been confirmed by the White House, could hurt Palestine and cause anger among its supporters across the world.
