In a statement released on Wednesday, December 6, Kurfi said the action of the finance minister is capable of casting doubt in the minds of many Nigerians in the ongoing anti-corruption war.

He said fact available in the public domain suggests that Gwarzo's suspension was done to avert forensic audit of Oando Plc.

Kurfi said: "We have to build confidence on investors by proving that our resolve to reposition the economy is not mere fluke.

"Munir Gwarzo has demonstrated exemplary leadership as the director general of the Securities and Exchange Commission. He is a trusted helmsman that has earned the respect of stakeholders in the Nigerian capital market operations."

Also, the south south coordinator of the Oando Shareholders Solidarity Group (OSSG), Clement Ebitimi, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Adeosun for allegedly meddling in the forensic audit of Oando Plc.

Ebitimi said Adeosun has “lost the moral authority” to remain in President Buhari’s cabinet considering “her repugnant role in shielding the embattled management of Oando Plc from forensic audit in the face of the monumental abuse in the company."

He said: “We condemn in strongest terms the recent suspension of the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Dr. Munir Gwarzo, by the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun."
