- Markus Gundiri, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state, says Atiku Abubakar cannot match Muhammadu Buhari in 2019
- Gundiri also claims he does not trust Governor Mohammed Bindow of Adamawa state in the APC since Atiku has moved to the PDP
- He further commends Buhari and argues that the president cannot resolve what the PDP allegedly destroyed in 16 years
A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state, Engineer Markus Gundiri, has reportedly declared that no Nigerian can effectively defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
Gundiri said there was no Nigerian whose credentials can match those of the president.
Leadership quotes Gundiri, the 2011 governorship candidate of defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the 2015 governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Adamawa, as also expressing doubt concerning the loyalty the state governor, Mohammed Bindow to the APC since Atiku Abubakar left for the People Democratic Party (PDP).
According to him, Bindow could now be a mole, an agent of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the ruling APC.
“Well, I cannot talk for the people but I can talk for myself. For sure there cannot be any trust because he (Governor) is like a wife you have and you devorced her and she goes into another house. Do you think the two husbands will trust each other? No, they won’t.
“Probably once in a while the wife could sneak out to the previous husband or vice versa.
“So, there’s possibility of leakages coming in from either sides of the divide. Therefore, believe me, I don’t think I can trust the governor of Adamawa state in APC again, he may be an agent now in APC unless he proves otherwise. That’s my stand.”
Continuing, he asked: “Who else in this country today can stand election against Buhari and win? I don’t think there is anyone.
“Look you have to look at the achievements of the president in these few years. It took PDP 16 years to establish a system and you can’t expect APC in three years to establish that type of position. It is going to take some time.
“If you give the president another four years, then you can now say for sure that he is going to do much more better than what PDP did in the last sixteen years.
“Look, Buhari came into governance at a time Nigeria was in a serious problem; economically, security-wise and all other problems that were associated with leading this country and it takes time to really understand the situation and put the right people in the right places to help tackle these problems.

“At one point in this country, the security situation was bad but when he came in, he started fighting the Boko Haram and all other people that were out to distort all the system we have in this country.
“He has succeeded.”
NAIJ.com earlier reported how Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state reportedly said the defection of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not good for the ruling political organisation.
Okorocha reportedly stated this after receiving an honorary doctorate degree at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo state on Saturday, December 9.
