- Members of the Osun House of Assembly have issued an arrest warrant for Muyiwa Ige, the son of the late Bola Ige
- Muyiwa, an ex-commissioner in the state, had reportedly refused an invitation extended by lawmakers for him to appear concerning an investigation into a land matter
- He however expressed anger over the arrest warrant, as he stated that he was not aware of any such invitation
A warrant for the arrest of Muyiwa Ige, the immediate past commissioner for lands, physical planning and urban development in Osun, has been issued by the state’s lawmakers, Punch reports.
The warrant was issued following the refusal of Muyiwa (who is a son of the late Bola Ige, ex-Attorney General of the Federation), to honour the lawmakers invitation.
NAIJ.com gathers that the ex-commissioner was invited to appear before the lawmakers in connection with an investigation into a land matter at Ilobu.
The Osun State Broadcasting Corporation on Wednesday, December 13, broadcast news of the warrant.
The development was also confirmed by a member of the Osun House of Assembly.
The lawmaker who spoke on the condition of anonymity disclosed that Muyiwa was not the only one ordered to appear before the House; but that an ex-permanent secretary in the ministry was also invited.
However, the lawmaker stated that the ex-permanent secretary had called to inform the House of his unavailability.
The lawmaker stated: "It is true; but the invitation was aired on OSBC on Tuesday and if he was not in the state, he might not have heard that he was invited.
“We didn’t receive any call from Muyiwa until the evening time when he called and told us that he was not aware of the invitation.
“He was not accused of stealing anything; so, I think he would come on Monday or so.”
A furious Muyiwa Ige however stated that he was unaware of any such invitation.
He stated: “I just heard the same way you heard it. Nobody invited me. It is very strange; nobody invited me. I was even in Osun State till 7:pm on Tuesday.”
Ige expressed his readiness to assist with any investigation and affirmed that he had done nothing wrong and so, had no reason to run away.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Muyiwa Ige revealed fresh details on the murder of his father, Bola.
Muyiwa, accused the former inspector general of police, Solomon Arase, of frustrating the investigation and murder trial of his father.
