The Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has said that the state its celebrating its 100 years of existence because there is a future.
The governor delivering his welcome note address at the Kaduna centenary said the state government is not celebrating Kaduna at 100 before the state is perfect but for the fact that there is hope and a future.
El-Rufai, the host of the occasion said while there have series of regrettable incidents in the city, the city of Kaduna endures because the residents are resilient.

The governor said: "We celebrate because there is a future, a chance to reclaim the glory, break new grounds and make Kaduna an example of diversity and integration, a dynamo of progress and a model of development.
We celebrate because the stains and losses of the past are not our destiny. We celebrate because we know that we can be better, and Kaduna is ready to be great again," El-Rufai said.
The event currently taking place at the Murtala Square, Kaduna is expected to be graced by governors of the 19 northern states, emirs, chiefs and other stakeholders in the state.
Already seated at the venue include the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, the Emir of Bauchi and some other top government officials.
Part of the celebration activities includes a colourful durbar and gala night to mark the milestone.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that the Kaduna division of the National Industrial Court had stopped the sack of over 20,000 Kaduna teachers who failed the state's competency test.
The state governor had earlier said that the 21,780 primary school teachers who failed a competency test would be sacked.
The court will stopping the proposed sack, adjourned the matter to Tuesday, February 6, 2018 for hearing.
