Manchester United are preparing a £26 million bid for Bordeaux Brazilian forward Malcom when the January transfer window opens.
Despite Anthony Martial’s return of six goals from wide positions, Jose Mourinho feels it necessary to add another genuine wide player to his squad.
And Malcom, 20, fits the bill. The Brazilian has scored seven times and earned four assists in 17 Ligue 1 appearances this season
.He also ticks boxes for Mourinho in his ability to play off either wing and in being left-footed.
The Times say Mourinho will be given about £80 million to strengthen his squad for the remainder of the campaign and the Portuguese boss wants to land a winger.
The 20-year-old has developed into a key player for Bordeaux since signing from Corinthians in 2016, scoring 15 goals in 65 league games. He is valued at around £26m.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against West Brom, Mourinho said: "I’m not a big defender of the January market.
"But there are players and situations that sometimes you have the chance to do and you shouldn’t lose the chance.

"If you can buy in January a player you would buy in June, July, and you have the chance to get him a few months before, then great."
Malcolm has represented his country at both u20 and u23 levels and is highly-rated by senior Brazil coaching staff.
