Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has described President Muhammadu Buhari as a man God sent to prevent Nigeria from collapsing, while congratulating the president on his 75th birthday.
Okorocha who made the comment in a statement sent to journalists on Sunday, December 17, also expressed confidence that Buhari will get more votes in the 2019 presidential election than he did in 2015 polls.
He boasted that the president will win majority votes in the southeast region of the country.
The governor went on to predict that smaller political parties as well as major parties would support Buhari as their presidential candidate.
“In 2019, the votes the president will get for his second tenure will be two times more than the votes he got in 2015 because most Nigerians have come to appreciate the necessity of his coming and what he is doing with the office.
“In 2019 too, most of the political parties will not sponsor presidential candidates including some of the big parties to enable them support Buhari presidency, and to enable the president finish the good works he has begun and also lay a very solid foundation for those coming after him," the governor stated.
Meanwhile, Governor Okorocha has stated that he won't aspire to be a senator in 2019.
The governor made the comment when about 5,000 members of the Rochas Mandate Movement held a solidarity rally for him in Owerri, on Friday December 15.
The governor's statement is coming at a time most of his colleagues are gearing up to leave their respective government houses and are preparing to contest for senatorial positions.
