Fresh crisis in APC as Kano party chairman steps down

- The ex-chairman was accused of starting a clash between the state governor, Abdullai Ganduje and his deputy, Hafizu Abubakar
- The deputy governor had also recently stated that he would not contest alongside the governor in 2019
Fresh crisis has surfaced in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kano state chapter, with the latest resignation of the state party chairman.
The resignation was confirmed by an aide to the commissioner of Information, Faizu Alfindiki, Premium Times reports.
Legit.ng gathered that the party chairman, Mr Abbas, had been previously indicted in the clash between Kano state governor, Abdullai Ganduje and his deputy, Hafizu Abubakar.

The deputy governor had earlier stated that he would not contest alongside Governor Ganduje in 2019
He alleged that he was not being carried along in the governance of the state and the party affairs.
He also condemned the removal of his ward chairman.
Following the deputy governor's outburst, Governor Ganduje ordered that the removed ward chairman be reinstated and urged that his deputy be respected by all the party members.

Legit.ng previously reported that over 10 people had shown interest in being the number two citizen of Kano, barely 24 hours after the state deputy governor, Hafiz Abubakar, declared that he would not contest alongside Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2019.
According to a report by The Nation, those vying for the job include two vice chancellors; two members of the State Executive Council; a professor of over 15 years; and a retired federal permanent secretary.
In another twist, a principal member of the House of Assembly, who pleaded for anonymity, said he had received calls from top indigenes, advising him to sponsor a motion to impeach Abubakar.
