Atletico Madrid finally unveil Diego Costa (photos)

- Attackers Diego Costa and Vitolo officially unveiled as a player of Atletico Madrid

- The two joined in the summer but were unable to feature due to a transfer ban

- Vitolo will wear number 23 while Diego Costa has been assigned the number 18

Atletico Madrid have officially unveiled striker Diego Costa and winger Vitolo as the club players after the end of their transfer ban.

The 29-year-old returned to the Spanish club for a reported £45m after leaving Chelsea at the end of last season.

But Atletico could not feature him because of a FIFA transfer ban on the club which expires on Sunday.

Costa, who spent three-and-a-half years at Chelsea and won the Premier League title twice, said he was delighted to return to Atletico Madrid, from where he joined Chelsea in 2014.

"I want to thank the club for all the hard work they did to be able to bring me back,” he said at the unveiling ceremony. “From the heart, thank you.”

Costa has been assigned the number 18 jersey at Atletico.

Also winger winger has been unveiled. Vitolo joined from Sevilla last summer but spent the first half of the season at Las Palmas where he impressed.

The Spain attacker has been assigned the number 23 shirt for the rest of the season.

Diego Simeone's side are currently third in La Liga on 36 points after 17 games, nine behind current leaders Barcelona.

The Rojiblancos have also dropped to the Europa League after finishing third in their Champions League group containing Chelsea, Qarabag and AS Roma.
