Before his death, Kaita was plagued with health challenges and was admitted at the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina for a while.

NAIJ.com reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has joined other Nigerians in mourning the late Kaita, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The president described Kaita as a complete gentleman who served his people and the nation with total commitment and devotion.

Through his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, the president extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the government and the people of Katsina and Kaduna states over the incident.

The late Kait joined the Kaduna state civil service and became the secretary to the state water board between 1973 and 1975. He became the commissioner for economic planning between 1975 and 1976 and later deputy permanent secretary of the works ministry of Kaduna state between 1976 and 1977.

Kaita contested the emirship of Katsina in 1982 after the death of Emir Usman Nagogo before becoming the governor in Kaduna state in the 1983 election. He was in office till the military coup in December that year.
