Current Premier League leaders Manchester City on Tuesday, January 2, continued with their impressive performance of the season after beating visiting Watford 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City started the match with flurry of attacks and it paid off in the first minute when Leroy Sane supplied a fantastic cross for Raheem Sterling to score the first goal.
The Englishman almost scored the second goal for the Etihad landlords in the 10th minute, but his shot was well saved by Gomes who was in goal for Watford.
Watford defenders had no answer to the attacking trio of David Silva, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling which eventually forced Christian Kabasele to score an own goal in the 13th minute.
The first half however ended 2-0 in favor of Manchester City who were the hosts.
On resumption, Watford duo of Carrillo and Richarlison combined well to set up Andre Gray, but he was denied by Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes.
Argentine striker Sergio Aguero netted the third goal for Manchester City in the 63rd minute, but the visitors ensured they registered at least a goal when Andre Gray scored for them in the 82nd minute as the Citizens won the match 3-1.
Manchester City are still topping the Premier League standings with 62 points after 22 games played this season.
