Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is ready to make a sensational bid for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro in January in a deal worth up to £50million.
The west London club failed in their attempts to bring the Brazilian international to Stamford Bridge in the summer but have reignited their interest in the 26-year-old.
British tabloid, Mirror reports that, Chelsea have already made their move for the ex-Porto defender as they look to steal a march on rivals Manchester United.
The Old Lady are ready to do business in the winter transfer window, and have already identified Bayer Leverkusen's Wendell as a potential replacement.
Sandro is reported to be unhappy in his current club Juventus, and CEO Beppe Moratta confirmed that he can leave should he wish.
Speaking last month, he said: "Every time a player asks to be sold we are in favour of the transfer."
Conte will be hoping for competition for Marcos Alonso, who has featured in all 21 Premier League matches this season should he succeed in bringing Sandro to Stamford bridge.
But the Italian looks to have been foiled in his attempts to lure Giorgio Chiellini to West London, with the centre-back poised to his extend his stay at the Juventus Stadium.

Chelsea are also eyeing up moves for Monaco ace Thomas Lemar and Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye as they look to strengthen their attack.
