Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, seems to have identified his top transfer target for the winter transfer window - but has been told he cannot sign him by the Red devils chief Ed Woodward.
Mourinho admitted after the win over Everton that he may be forced into the transfer market this month.
Left-back has been a particular problem for United, with none of their current options convincing the Portuguese gaffer they deserve a regular starting spot.
Mourinho preferred transfer option for the positon is Tottenham defender Danny Rose, who could be available for around £50m.
Sources however revealed that Mourinho is frustrated that Woodward has suggested younger, cheaper alternatives.
He is believed to have told the United boss that if he is to get Rose, he will have to offload some players or wait until the summer.
The 54-year-old said in December that he needs to spend a lot more than the £300m he already has, if United are to compete with neighbours Manchester City.
