Suspected herdsman allegedly dies after fighting with female farmer in Delta

- A herdsman has allegedly died from injuries after getting into a stone-throwing fight with a female farmer in Delta

- An argument had ensued between both parties after the herdsman drove his cattle into the woman’s farmland

- The farmer fled the community after the incident, and the police has launched an investigation into the matter

Muhammed Haruna, a 15-year-old herdsman has allegedly died from injuries he sustained after getting into a fight with a female farmer in Delta state.

According to a report in Southern City News, as quoted by Punch, the incident took place last week.

Legit.ng gathers that the deceased and his colleague had driven their cattle into the woman’s property which is located in the Upper Agbarho area of Ughelli.

A heated argument reportedly occurred; after which the woman and the herders got engaged in a stone-throwing match.

One of the stones reportedly hit Muhammed, and he collapsed on the scene.

He was pronounced dead by doctors after being rushed to a private hospital.

A manhunt has reportedly been launched for the yet-unidentified female farmer who fled the area after the incident occurred.

A source stated: “When the owner of the farm, a lady, accosted the herdsmen while they grazed on her farm with their herds, a verbal confrontation ensued.

“This led to the throwing of stones at the herdsmen by the locals in the area, including the woman. The herdsmen attempted fleeing, but one of them was hit and he collapsed."

The tragic incident has reportedly been confirmed by the state’s police public relations officer, Andrew Aniamaka.

He stated that the state command had commenced investigations into the matter and that all those found culpable would be prosecuted.

In a related development, Legit.ng previously reported that six Fulani herdsmen were allegedly killed in Kuri village in Bassa local government area of Plateau state by suspected members of a militant group named Irigwe.

The attack was allegedly carried out when the Fulani herdsmen were grazing their cattle.
