A newlywed couple who got married after seven days of acquaintance on social media has shared their experience. The husband identified as Chidimma Amedu had shared a post on Facebook searching for a woman who was ready to marry when his wife replied that she was interested.

The young man had shared the marriage proposal advert on Saturday, December 30, asking that any woman interested in being his wife reply his post. He later added series of post, stating that he was serious about the proposal.

He said:“Am of age and I am ready to say I do and am wasting no time. Send in your applications – the most qualified will be married on January 6, 2018. Application closes 12 midnight, 31/12/2017.” “Am serious about this oh and don’t say you did not see it on time. Good luck.”

The newlywed bride identified as Sophy Ijeoma had sent a response, stating that she was interested. She wrote: “Am interested, just DM me…lols”.

In an interview with BBC, the couple talked about their experiences after the first message on social media to the moment they got married.

According to Ijeoma, she had responded thinking he was joking about his proposal. However, the young man had sent a direct message to her and they decided to set a meetup.

Ijeoma revealed that she fell in love with Amedu at first sight after he travelled from Abuja to Enugu to visit her where she lives. She noted that he came to visit her two days after they started talking on social media.

She said: “It was love at first sight. He is the most handsome man I’ve ever met and I liked him instantly.”

The newlywed bride noted that Amedu asked her to meet his uncle who resides in Enugu after talking for a while. Ijeoma said: “We got to the uncle’s house and he said: ‘Uncle, meet the woman I want to marry.”

“When I saw him for the first time, I definitely found him attractive, but what I didn’t know was how serious he was about marrying me. It was after we met the uncle and his wife, that I realised that this could actually happen and I wanted it.”

She talked about how she broke the news to her family members but she got the approval. Ijeoma’s father had passed away, and her mum said she did not have the right to give her approval which left the decision to her elder brother to give his blessings.

Amedu, who had planned to marry last year and was engaged to another woman put up the post after his relationship fell apart. He said: “I had the desire to get married, I had a date in mind, but no bride, so I decided to place an advert as a joke, but I was open and up for it.”

The newlyweds had been friends on Facebook for over a year and they never spoken to each other until the marriage proposal post.

Ijeoma and Amedu tied the knot on Saturday, January 6, in a traditional Igbo ceremony. Congratulations to them!
