President Buhari thanks Nigerians as son leaves hospital

- President Buhari has appreciated Nigerians for their prayers for the swift recovery of his son

- The president's son, Yusuf was involved in a motorcycle crash on December 26, 2017

- He was subsequently discharged Cedarcrest Hospital, Abuja, on Friday, January 12 after undergoing a successful surgery

President Muhammadu Buhari has thanked Nigerians for their prayers for his son who was today, Friday, January 12 discharged from Cedarcrest Hospital, Abuja, following injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident.

The president said he appreciated the overwhelming show of love and solidarity from Nigerians.

Buhari made this known in an appreciation message from Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president (media and publicity).

"President Muhammadu Buhari, his wife, Aisha, and the entire family, thank all men and women of goodwill, both within and outside the country, for their prayers and best wishes, which have now seen their son, Yusuf, being discharged from hospital.

"The family appreciates the overwhelming show of love and solidarity, which had come their way since Yusuf was involved in a motorcycle crash on December 26, 2017.

"We thank Nigerians from all walks of life, both within and outside the country, leaders of many foreign countries, groups, organizations, individuals, and many others, who prayed, visited, sent messages, and generally stood by us at the trying time," the family said, praying that almighty Allah would reward them all.

"Yusuf had been discharged from Cedarcrest Hospital, Abuja, Friday, following what the Chief medical director described as his "extremely speedy response to treatment," the message read.

NAIJ.com had earlier reported that the son of President Muhammadu Buhari was discharged from Cedarcrest Hospitals.

Yusuf Buhari was discharged from the hospital on Friday, January 12, Cedarcrest Hospitals said in an official statement.

The hospital said Yusuf was placed in its intensive care unit after an initial stabilization following injuries sustained as a rider in a motorcycle accident.

The hospital added that Yusuf's condition remarkably improved after a surgery was carried out by a team of neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons before he was transferred from the ICU to the ward.
