I cannot be intimidated by security agencies - Pastor summoned by SSS for allegedly criticising Buhari speaks out

- El-Buba, a pastor summoned by SSS for allegedly criticising President Buhari, said he would not honour the invitation

- He said he had decided not to honour the invitation because it was not authorized in writing

- He vowed that no amount of threats by security agencies will stop him from criticising government

The clergyman whose arrest by the State Security Services (SSS) was stalled by some officials of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) said he refused to honour an invitation by the agency because their action was illegal.

Premium Times reports that Isa El- Buba stated this on the evening of Tuesday, January 16, in an interview with journalists in Jos.

The SSS operatives allegedly attempted to arrest El-Buba in Jos, on Monday, January 15.

El-Buba said a deputy director of the state service stormed his fellowship headquarters on the night of Monday, January 15, while he was preparing for a midnight service, but he refused to honour the invitation because “the invitaton was not authorised in writing.”

He said: “I demanded for a letter of invitation and was not given, so I became suspicious of their mission in the night to my office.”

El-Buba said the operatives, who came in two trucks, made several attempts at his residence to pick him to Abuja under the cover of the night.

The clergyman insisted that he had done nothing wrong to warrant his arrest and stated that he would not stop preaching good governance at all levels of government.

El-Buba said he could not be intimidated by any threats from security agencies.

Legit.ng previously reported that SSS operatives on Monday, January 15, moved to arrest El-Buba after instructing his church members to vote out President Muhammad Buhari for “failing” Nigerians

The attempt by SSS to arrest him was, however, foiled by some officials of CAN.

The effort of the CAN officials, led by its north central chairman, Yakubu Pam, almost degenerated into a clash between the SSS operatives and local youth in Jos.

Pam said that CAN had intervened and restored peace but did not disclose why the SSS attempted to arrest El-Buba.

He said the director general of SSS in Abuja told him to interact with El-Buba and report back to him.
