It is no longer news that a bride took to social media on Monday, January 1, to call out popular Nigerian fashion designer Maryam Elisha for giving her red wedding dress to Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe.
Due to this, the bride who was identified as Lawretta sued both the fashion designer and Aigbe to court. Lawretta is suing the designer over breach of contract and suing the actress for conniving with the designer.
This law suit surely did not go down well with the screen diva has she took to her Instagram handle on Tuesday, January 16, to reveal plans on suing the designer and the bride over false accusation.
In her post, Mercy Aigbe disclosed that she is giving the bride seven days to retract the statement about her conniving with the designer or else she will sue the bride.
Her post reads: “The lingering ‘Red Dress’ issue continued this morning as the bride threatened to sue the designer Rikaotobyme and also falsely accused me of connivance with the said designer (without substantial proof or evidence). Having served Rikaotobyme a letter through my lawyer on Jan 8 to issue an official statement on the above subject matter with clear indications that I have never met her before or transacted business with her which she failed to do, I have instructed my lawyer to go ahead and seek redress. For the bride, in as much as I sympathize with her, I take exception to her accusing me falsely and trying to cast aspersions on my person. I have given the bride through her lawyers 7 days to retract the statement that read thus; ‘the sequence detailed above has evidenced a deliberate and fraudulent conspiracy between the designer and Ms Mercy Aigbe to convert our client's legal property for selfish gains'. This is a malicious allegation. Whao, where is the legal property I want to convert. What a statement. I hereby demand a retraction and public apology, failure to do so I will have no option than to seek redress in the law court by suing her (the bride) and the designer for false accusation and trying to defame my person.”
