APC chieftain tells Buhari to resign as petroleum minister

- President Muhammadu Buhari has urged to relinquish his position as the minister of petroleum resources

- Ibrahim Daura, a kinsman to the president and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) made this call in Kaduna

- He said the petroleum ministry is very sensitive and requires to be handled by professionals who are not distracted by any other demanding duty

Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim Daura, a kinsman to President Muhammadu Buhari and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the president to resign his position as the minister of petroleum resources.

The APC chieftain who disclosed this in Kaduna on Tuesday, January 16, said this will help the president to concentrate on salvaging the country.

Daura argued that the office of the president was very demanding and required full concentration of President Muhammdu Buhari so that he could move the nation forward, Vanguard reports.

He said the petroleum ministry is very sensitive and requires to be handled by professionals who are not distracted by any other demanding duty.

Going further, the news outlet said Daura argued that Ibe Kachikwu, minister of State for Petroleum, who is a lawyer by training, might not have the rudiment to manage the office of the affairs of the ministry.

"We all know that 80 percent of our revenue comes from the petroleum sector and if we don’t take proper care of the ministry, the country might be thrown into chaos," he reported to have said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that President Muhammadu Buhari thanked Nigerians for their prayers for his son who was on Friday, January 12 discharged from Cedarcrest Hospital, Abuja, following injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident.

The president said he appreciated the overwhelming show of love and solidarity from Nigerians.

Buhari made this known in an appreciation message from Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president (media and publicity).
