President Muhammadu Buhari has been petitioned by the minister of communications, Adebayo Shittu, over what the latter described as the ‘unbecoming behaviour’ of the Oyo state governor, Abiola Ajimobi.

In the petition which was seen by Punch, Shittu copied the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun, and the party’s national leader, Bola Tinubu, in the letter.

Legit.ng gathered that the minister accused the Oyo state governor of creating divisions within the state’s APC chapter and disenfranchising members. Shittu also accused Ajimobi of nepotism and arrogance. He further accused the governor of being angry over his 2019 gubernatorial aspirations and demolishing his computer-based test centre which was still under construction.

He stated: “I am constrained to bring to your notice the unsavoury development in our great party in Oyo State and the unbecoming behavior of Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who is expected to provide sound moral and exemplary leadership to the citizens of our dear state.

“This line of action becomes imperative in view of the sad turn of events in the Oyo state APC.

“It is an open secret that the fortune of the APC has nose-dived in the state due to Governor Ajimobi’s undue arrogance, grandstanding, nepotism, caustic and unguarded utterances and creating unnecessary divisions among party leaders and members, thereby balkanising the party along group lines."

According to the minister, he has nothing personal against the governor but, he only wants to stress the importance of him not destroying the very platform that made him governor. He added that the signs are glaring that Ajimobi is set to destroy the party.
