4 feared dead fresh suspected herdsmen attack in Adamawa village

- Four people have been allegedly killed in fresh suspected herdsmen attack

- The victims of the attack are residents of Kikon village in Numan local government area of Adamawa state

- The herdsmen invaded the village on Sunday, January 21, carting away food and livestock belonging to the villagers

A fresh attack by some suspected herdsmen have left four people dead in Adamawa state, Punch reports.

The killings followed a midnight attack by some suspected herdsmen who invaded Kikon village in Numan local government area of the state.

Residents said the suspected herdsmen invaded the community at about 1 am on Sunday, January 21, burning down the entire village.

They allegedly killed four people - two men and two women, the residents said.

The residents also said the attackers drove into the village on motorcycles, carting away foodstuff and livestock belonging to indigenes.

A community leader in Kikon village, John Gamsa, said security men deployed to the village did nothing to protect villagers lives and property during the attack.

Gamsa said: “The deployment of five units of mobile policemen in our area was meant for the protection of Fulani herdsmen."

“The soldiers drafted to this area were just sitting and watching while the herdsmen have their fill of blood.

“As far as I am concerned, the only job of the policemen is to attack members of the community when they want to fight back against the Fulani herdsmen.

“Since the IG deployed his men in this area, the attacks have increased. The Federal Government is not sincere enough as it has not done anything to stop the attacks."

Also, the spokesperson for the police in the state, Othman Abubakar, confirmed the attack.

Abubakar also confirmed that four people were killed by the suspected herdsmen during the attack.

Legit.ng earlier reported that a group had dragged the governors of Taraba and Benue state to court over the killings in the state by suspected herdsmen.

The information officer for Initiative for Civil Rights Advancement in Nigeria (ICRAN) accused the governors of handling the crisis between farmers and herdsmen in the states poorly.

ICRAN in its petition to the ICC called for an investigation on the accused persons according to Article 15 (1) of the Rome Statute.
