Herdsmen killings: Benue indigenes stage protest in Enugu against

- Indigenes of Benue have staged a protest in Enugu against the killings by herdsmen in their home state

- The protesters are calling for the arrest of the leaders of the herdsmen association

- They are also asking President Buhari to declare militant herdsmen a terrorist group

In solidarity with the victims of herdsmen attacks in Benue, indigenes of the state resident in Enugu have taken to the streets of the southeast state to protest against the attacks.

According to Channels TV, the group is urging President Muhammadu Buhari to declare the militia herdsmen a terrorist movement.

Legit.ng gathers that the protesters are also calling on the federal government to support the anti-open grazing bill in Benue, even as they called for the arrest of the leaders of the herdsmen association.

They further called on the various state governors in the country to raise their voices and condemn the acts of the herdsmen.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that some indigenes of Benue state on Thursday, January 18, stormed the Unity Fountain in Abuja to protest against the ongoing carnage in the state.

One of the protesters, Margaret Iyorembr, a former commissioner of women affairs in Benue state, said it was important for the world to see what has been happening in the state.

She said: "If you look round you'll see there is a big banner there. On it is written that herdsmen came to my place and murdered the tiv people including women, children and even pregnant women.

"They were not provoked, this has been happening. The world needs to listen and judge what is happening. These killers should be apprehended immediately, they are not ghosts. They must be arrested.”
