APC chooses Okorocha to head southeast zonal campaign council of Buhari’s re-election

- APC leaders from the southeast have endorsed Governor Rochas Okorocha as the leader of the southeast zonal campaign council of Buhari’s re-election

- At a meeting held a meeting at the Abuja lodge of the Imo state governor, they agreed to set up Buhari’s campaign organisation in the zone

- The leaders also resolved not to allow the fate that had befallen APC in the zone in 2015 to repeat itself in 2019

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) southeast leadership has endorsed Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, as the leader of the southeast zonal campaign council of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 re-election bid.

This was stated as the outcome of the party’s meeting on Sunday night, January 21, at the Abuja lodge of the Imo state governor.

The leaders also agreed to work together for the success of President Buhari and the party in other elections in the zone, The Punch reports.

In a release signed by Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha’s chief press secretary, on Monday, January 22, the APC southeastern leaders agreed to set up Buhari’s campaign organisation in the zone, with Okorocha as the leader, while similar structures would be set up in the other four southeastern states.

“The Southeast APC leaders have resolved that they would not allow the fate that had befallen APC in the zone in 2015 to repeat itself in 2019,” the statement partly read.

According to an earlier report by Legit.ng, southeast APC leaders called on President Muhammadu Buhari to seek re-election in 2019.

The APC leaders from the southeast said this when they paid a courtesy visit to President Buhari in State House, Abuja, on Monday, January 22.

The delegates after the meeting with Buhari, affirmed their endorsement for him to contest the 2019 election.

A member of the delegation and minister of science and technology, Ogbonnaya, after the meeting told journalists that they are happy with President Buhari’s performance.
