Panic as tank-farm explodes in Lagos

Residents of Ijegun in Navy Town, Ojo area of Lagos state are presently deserting the neighbourhood for safety due to a serious fire explosion in the locality.

Eyewitness reporters told Channels Television that a deafening noise went up at around midday when a diesel tanker carrying 33,000 came down.

Some residents cry out over the fact that the tank farms are too close to the Navy Town Ojo armament depot, a distance which according to them is about five miles.

Residents call on the fire service to come to their rescue before things get out of hand.

Recently, Legit.ng reported that the warehouse of Nigeria Customs in Lagos was on fire. Although fire service men were currently battling with the flames, the cause of the fire outbreak was unknown.

According to reports, the incident, which happened around 7.30pm, was said to have injured two persons at No. 17 Umo Orok Lane in the Calabar-South axis of the metropolis. This was the third time in one year such incident happened.
