Ibrahim Magu, the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, January 29, said it is important that African leaders support Nigeria’s president in his war against corruption, Channels TV reports.
Legit.ng gathered that Magu at the 30th AU summit in Addis Ababa told journalists that African leaders must therefore support President Buhari in his task as the champion of AU’s fight against corruption for successful anti-corruption war.

Magu further said that the political will is the driving force of fight against corruption and that the agency is committed to continue its fight despite the many challenges.
The 30th AU Summit which is themed “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation." is the first time in the 54-year history that anti-corruption will be made a theme of the gathering of the regional leaders.
President Muhammadu Buhari who departed for Ethiopia to participate in the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), on Sunday, January 28, said that corruption is one of the greatest evils of our time.
"Corruption is indeed one of the greatest evils of our time. Corruption rewards those who do not play by the rules and also creates a system of distortion and diversion thereby destroying all efforts at constructive, just and fair governance,” he said.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that President Muhammadu Buhari insisted that the fight against corruption has come to stay in Nigeria.
Buhari made the statement when unveiling the African Union’s anti-graft campaign at the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the AU, on Sunday, January 28, The Nation reports.

He reiterated the commitment of Nigeria to the continuous fight against corruption. The president advocated for strong institutions as necessary condition for winning the fight against corruption.
