Reigning Spanish and European League champions Real Madrid have reportedly given up on the signing of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
Los Blancos are now said to be targeting Chelsea number one stopper Thibaut Courtois for a move to the Bernabeu at the end of the ongoing season.
In August 2015, Chelsea were on the verge of signing David De Gea from Manchester United, before a deadline day fax machine problem scuppered the switch.
The 27-year-old has since signed a new long-term contract with the Red Devils, but Los Blancos were believed to be keen on trying to revive a potential deal.
And now the Independent say Galacticos chiefs feel it will be easier to lure Courtois from Chelsea and will push ahead in their attempts to land the Belgian this summer.
Recently, Thibaut Courtois admitted that that he would return to Madrid one day considering the fact that his wife and children live in the Spanish capital.
Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois admitted that his heart is in Madrid therefore adding fuel on fire amid Real Madrid interest in him.
Real Madrid are currently looking for a new No1 to replace Keylor Navas and Belgian Thibaut Courtois is their primary target.
But the former Atletico Madrid goalie explained that Real Madrid have not made any contact with Chelsea over a move to sign him.
