Marcelo drops hint that Neymar will join Real Madrid soon

- Marcelo believes his fellow Brazil teammate Neymar will play for Real Madrid soon

- The 25-year-old joined Paris Saint Germain in a world-record worth €222 million

- Both Real Madrid and PSG will face off in the Uefa Champions League round of 16 first leg in Spain on Wednesday

Brazil left-full back Marcelo has expressed confidence that his compatriot Neymar Jr will join him at Real Madrid soon.

The 25-year-old sealed a move away from Spain in a world-record deal worth €222 million last summer having spent four years at Barcelona, scoring 68 goals in 123 appearances.

But the 29-year-old defender believes the Paris Saint Germain striker is poised to return to Spain but this time to play for the Galacticos.

He (Marcelo) further stated that Neymar will be a perfect fit for Real’s attack, which is currently underperforming at the moment. And their under-firing has seen the Galacticos dropped to 4th position on the La Liga table.

"I think Neymar will play for Real Madrid one day," Marcelo told Esporte Interativo ahead of Madrid's showdown with PSG in the Champions League last 16 on Wednesday.

"Would Neymar fit at Real Madrid? He would fit, for sure. It would be great if he came to Real Madrid.

"In my opinion the great players have to play at this club."

Meanwhile, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has previously offered the forward a chance to break the dominance of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi at the club.

"It’s difficult to see who will take the leadership away from Cristiano [Ronaldo] and [Lionel] Messi,” said Perez in December.

“Being at Madrid would make it easier for Neymar to win it [the Ballon d’Or]. Madrid is a club that gives big players what they need.”

Marceloa has spent a decade at the Santiago Bernabau since he moved to the Spanish capital in 2007, and has scored 23 goals in 311 appearances for the club.

He was instrumental to his side’s back-to-back Champion League triumph in 2016 and 2017 – after winning his first Uefa elite title in 2015.

He has also won four La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey, three Spanish Super Cup titles, three Uefa Super Cups and three Fifa World Club Cup.
