Spanish league giants Real Madrid are planning to smash the current world record transfer fee to land Brazil forward, Neymar Jr. this summer in a deal around €500 Million from Paris Saint Germain.
The 25-year-old sealed a move away from Barcelona last summer having spent four seasons at the Camp Nou to join the Parisians in a five-year deal valued at €222 million.
And the Galacticos will be willing to bring the former Santos striker to the Spanish capital to take over from ageing reigning world best footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has struggled in front of goal until recently.
In line with his tall ambition, Real’s president Florentino Perez has been advised the money involved could put his club’s financial future in danger.
Esteve Calzada, CEO of 'PrimeTime Sports', produces a biannual study of the transfer market which is regarded highly across the high levels of football.
Calzada, reports Sport, believes it would take €250m to convince PSG to sell Neymar after they parted with to sign him from Barca. A five-year contract worth €40m-a-year would also need to be tabled.
And when the various government taxes are added, the operation will be breaking the €500m barrier should Florentino pursue it.
Having won the Uefa Champions League for the second time, and also winning the La Liga title last season, the Galacticos have struggled for form this season – hanging on the 4th position on the log with 17 points behind their arch rival and currently league leaders, Barcelona.
