- Alvaro Morata says he was to blame for his back injury that kept him on the sidelines
- The Chelsea striker revealed he should have informed the medical team before it got worse
- Morata has 13 goals to his account with the London club but his last was in December
Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata revealed he is the cause for his back injury that kept him out of action.
Morata concedes he should have alerted club medical staffs earlier to the pain he was suffering which would not have kept him on the sidelines.
The Spanish international declared himself fit in the Premier League match at Stamford Bridge and was able to feature for 30 minutes under his belt in the 3-0 win over West Brom on Monday night.
When asked about his importance to Chelsea and Antonio Conte, Morata told Movistar: “He is the one who counts on me and that's the truth.
“At the end of the day, a great club has given me the opportunity to play as a starter and to grow.
“That is until the physical problems arrived.
“I was wrong to play with pain. I wasn't okay to play."
Morata has 13 goals to his credit this season but his last for the Blues was against Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.
